Lunch at Lovage, Jesmond
Putting Jesmond back on the Michelin map.
Skip the bars on Osborne Road (mostly awful), instead go for a long walk through Jesmond Dene, and get some scran from one of Jesmond’s diverse and ever-growing in number restaurants and cafes. Jesmond isn’t historically a great place to eat, but there’s some fantastic restaurants have been popping up in the last few years.
Perhaps even moreso than Heaton, it’s Newcastle’s studentsville, and there’s plenty of places to accommodate them – late lunch at The Fat Hippo is a student rite of passage, and Nudo Sushi Box gets the fitfam through a hangover. But there’s also two of the best restaurants in the region which couldn’t be further apart – the best pizza in Newcastle from Cal’s Own, and high-end dining at Jesmond Dene House, Branches, and more.
So if you’re looking for places to eat in Jesmond, or the best takeout restaurants, take a look at these.
