I’ve written about @theroxburgh on the blog which is a fave of mine and has been for a decade now. But more importantly with news of the likes of Barrio, Ophelia, Bawn, Papa Ganoush, Thali Tray all shutting up some shop this month the wider message is really to stop going to the chains even just a couple of times, be mindful of all those sponsored posts you see from restaurants that can afford the luxury of a marketing budget, and support your local indies. It’s always been that way here, but feels more important than ever given we just lost a swathe of the very best that we had. #newcastleeats #foodblog #supportlocal

- loved the ten year menu @theroxburgh “egg and chips”
- soup back in full swing with squash and paprika
- new weekly haunt at the home of foam = lager, chin chin and scampi fries
- @iztuzutynemouth good but £££
- little treat from @coaldropsyard
- never ending stream of pastry for office breakfast

August leftovers, but don’t mention the Autumn… - Prawn salad at @cafe.ngon was really fresh and just what I needed
- Finally got to the Feathers for the Saturday bakery — even better than expected, and bloody huge
- Big lunch at @snackwallah, all pleasingly healthy-ish
- Had some tapas at Fuego in Fenwick, the best of which might have been this gooey tortilla which was rammed with jamon
- Kottu from @kolamba.newcastle was finally something slightly outshining a lot of the Quayside market
- Pleasantly supsrursed by @chakhdhoomnewcastle and the tikka three ways was well done
- Salt + vinegar and a bowl of these to soak up some pints
- When it was really sunny and all we were eating was ripe tomatoes
- Apricot and almond slice from Pure Knead
- Can’t complain at a fiver Bloody Mary at Mercy Trying some places new and old this month and will be clinging onto the last bounty of summer for as long as possible. Where’s been on your radar? #newcastleeats #foodblog #august2024
