It is done.
Wednesday night is usually punctuated with the “top-up shop”, but not this week. Unsurprisingly, I’ve learned is that I eat way too much normally (who would have guessed…), and a “recommended” serving portion will fill me until the next meal – but the lack of exciting ingredients certainly makes the food bland.
Part of my goal in doing this was to show that actually, you can eat somewhat OK food, if you try and come up with creative recipes. Well, three days in and I’ve realised you certainly can’t have any creativity at this budget.
Not feeling as hungry as I thought I would now, but I’ll take that as a sign it is going to get much worse as the week goes on. I now appreciate that you can eat on £1/day if needs really be, which makes me wonder how some people struggle putting food on the table.…
It is Sunday night. I’ve spent the past few hours trying to work out how I can get “the best bang for my buck”. I am attempting to complete a week of living on £1/day food cost, i.e “Live Below the Line”, in partnership with Oxfam GB.
Fancy yourself as a bit of a baker? Love the warming aroma of fresh gingerbread, or decorating houses made from cake? Or just eating them? You’re in luck.
