Byker, Heaton, Walker

Just because it’s officially Newcastle’s Studentsville, doesn’t mean there’s not some good places to eat on Heaton Road, Chilli Road, and beyond (NE6).

The original home of Cal’s Own proves there’s the occasional diamond in the rough, and with better options more recently like Bao Bar, Flint and generally, a huge number of places, Heaton, Byker, and Walker occasionally are worth the short trek out of Newcastle city centre. It sits between the two, but you could also call the lovely Ouseburn part of Heaton too.
